PA Invasive Replace-ive
Remove an invasive plant from your property and take home up to 5 free native trees or shrubs at an in-person giveaway event. Bring photo proof of removal when you register. Native species available include redbud, Allegheny serviceberry, shagbark hickory, white oak, hazelnut, blackgum, Carolina silverbell, and persimmon (most in 2-gallon pots, 1-4 feet tall). Priority invasives for removal include Callery pear, tree-of-heaven, princess tree, Norway maple, Japanese barberry, burning bush, butterfly bush, privet, and autumn olive. The inaugural 2025 program distributed over 1,300 native trees across five events statewide. The program is confirmed returning for spring 2026, but registration dates and giveaway locations have not yet been announced. Check the program page or email RA-NRCommunityForest@pa.gov for updates.
